The Bradley County Commission met yesterday after several weeks of weather-related cancelations.
Bradley County Mayor Gary Davis passed out a resolution for consideration at the next voting session. The resolution seeks approval to apply for a $1 million grant with a 17% county match to fund proposed turf projects at County recreation parks. If approved, the county could hear back on the grant in the fall.
The Economic Development Committee met last week. Commissioner Tommy Ledford reported that Volunteer Electric is continuing its work on expanding broadband access, with full county coverage projected in 12 to 18 months.
Commissioner Tim Mason said the Road Committee voted to recommend approval of the 2026 Bradley County Roads List. That recommendation will be up for a vote on February 17.
The annual Household Hazardous Waste Day has been rescheduled from March to November 7th. In its place, a Tire Takeback event is set for March 21st.
A resolution to rezone property at 135 Breckenridge Drive NW from Forestry / Agricultural / Residential to R2 High Density Residential was placed on the next voting session agenda. It was previously approved unanimously by the Regional Planning Commission.
The next commission meeting is a voting session scheduled for Tuesday, February 17 at noon.
