The Cleveland City School Board met on Monday.
The board approved its FY 2027 budget calendar with a minor change allowing members to receive the budget draft earlier, giving more time to prepare for the spring retreat discussion.
Director of Schools Dr. Russell Dyer shared updates from December, including performances by students, a community “Cocoa with Santa” event, and the annual Empty Stocking Fund distribution. He praised staff for their work in holiday programs and noted strong participation in January’s professional development sessions.
Student and staff achievements were a major highlight. Cleveland High’s Owen Clemens was honored for winning his second cross-country state championship, and the Cleveland Middle School wrestling team was recognized for back-to-back state titles in both boys’ and girls’ divisions.
The board also celebrated school-level and district-wide Teachers, Classified Staff, and Novice Teachers of the Year. District-wide honorees included:
