The Bradley County Commission met last night.
Lisa Lovelace with Bradley Medical Center shared updates on improvements since Vitruvian Health took over in 2024, including increased patient satisfaction, added services, and staffing expansions. She also addressed concerns about a proposed free-standing ER by Parkridge, stating it could threaten the viability of local health care and result in duplicate ER charges for transferred patients.
Two new appointments were confirmed to the Economic Development Council Commission. Cindy Slater and Tommy Ledford were appointed for one-year terms.
The Commission also approved a motion opposing the placement of a mental health facility on Pleasant Grove Road SW.
Third District Commissioner and Finance Committee Chairman, Milan Blake, made several motions during the meeting from Finance Committee recommendations. All were approved by the Commission.
The first was to obtain quotes for the remediation of property on Spring Place Terrace using landfill funds with a lien to recover costs.
The second was a new agreement allowing EMS to bill Bradley Medical Center for uninsured patient transports at Medicare rates.
The Commission also approved exploring financing options for installing turf at county recreation parks.
Finally, the Commission approved a formal request to the Bradley County Board of Education for a timeline on the Bradley Central High School track project, with a response requested from the Board of Education by March 31.
The next commission meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 12, at noon.
