The Cleveland City School Board met on Tuesday, covering several items of business. Director of Schools Jeff Elliott reported that the first administrative meeting held at the educational support center was on August 21st. Elliott also reported Cleveland City Schools received a $325,000 grant for after-school programs at Arnold and Blythe-Bower. Arnold principal Mike Chai called this the year of the powerful teacher, noting that the school has received their STEM designation. During the meeting, Jordan Wagers was named as the Novice Teacher of the Year. Discussion was also held about the possibility of schools banning cell phones, with the idea proposed that students should have pouches to put their phones in.
