Bradley County Board of Education 06-10-25

Jun 10, 2025

The board approved the purchase of 40.4 acres of land on Dry Valley Road for a new elementary school. The land will cost just over $1 million, and board members authorized Director of Schools Dr. Linda Cash to sign the necessary documents to finalize the purchase.

The board also recognized several new principals in the school system.  Sarah Haynes will lead Valley View Elementary, Dr. Jeremy Jones is the new principal at Walker Valley High School, and Allison Bynum will serve as principal of Charleston Elementary.

Dr. Cash announced that the graduating class of 2024 earned more than $20.8 million in scholarships. A total of 794 students graduated from Bradley Central, Walker Valley, the virtual school, and Goal Academy.

Board members celebrated major facility improvements. Plans are moving forward for a new field house at the Bradley Central baseball field, and the board approved a budget increase of $11,000 to complete the project. They also approved upgrades to a practice field that will now be used by the girls' soccer and lacrosse teams, funded entirely through grants and donations.

A new playground will also be moved and rebuilt at Hopewell Elementary. The current playground must be moved in order for the previously approved construction to begin.

The board will next meet on August 14th.
