Commissioners unanimously approved the final budget amendments for fiscal year 2024-2025. The commission will vote on the full budget and tax rate on June 27.


They also approved rezoning property at 4152 Spring Place Road from agricultural to commercial. The owner, Cole Ryer, addressed safety concerns during the public hearing and said the land would be leveled to improve visibility.


In other action:


•The commission authorized Mayor Gary Davis to negotiate a $108,726 contract with Case Construction for a concrete parking lot at the Bradley County Fire Hall on Minnis Road.

•A resolution was passed to dissolve the Bradley County Down Payment Assistance Program and redirect any leftover funds to housing projects.

•Commissioners approved awarding retiring Sergeant Randy Holloway his service weapon.

•A letter will be sent to TDEC requesting a review of the state’s plat approval process due to delays.

•Elected officials must now review policies for county-owned vehicle use and submit a report by year’s end. The motion passed 11-2.


During public comments, Commissioner Gilbert raised concerns about a joint city-county animal shelter mentioned in Cleveland’s  Pennies for Progress budget and tax plan. Mayor Davis and other commissioners said no such agreement has been made.


County offices will be closed on Thursday, June 19, for Juneteenth.


The Commission will next meet on June 27 at noon.
