Suspect charged in Cleveland after gunshot victim found lying in parking lot

From News Channel 9: Cleveland Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened late Sunday night and left one man seriously injured.

Around 10:53 p.m., officers responded to a call about gunfire at 920 25th Street. When they arrived, they found 24-year-old David “Brody” Bishop lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Officers rendered first aid before EMS arrived and transported Bishop to a nearby hospital.

Witnesses told police that a white male in a maroon Lexus with large chrome wheels pulled into the parking lot, exchanged brief words with a group gathered there, then fired one shot into the air — and a second shot that struck Bishop at close range.

Officers located the suspect a short time later, parked on the on-ramp to APD 40 at 20th Street. The man, identified as Cameron Cox, was taken into custody without incident.

Cox has been charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder, two counts of Aggravated Assault, and Reckless Endangerment.

He was booked into the Bradley County Justice Center. The investigation remains active, and anyone with additional information is asked to contact Cleveland Police.
