Lost toddler appears on woman's doorstep while Cleveland police search overnight

From Local 3 News: A lost three-year-old caused Cleveland police to start an overnight search on Saturday. The toddler was found walking in the middle of the road at around 4:00am.

The child has since been reunited safely with family, all thanks to a neighbor who was in the right place at the right time.
 
Pamela Reynoso says a strange man at her doorstep in the middle of the night brought her attention to the 3-year-old child.

The man told her that he found the child in the middle of the road by Georgetown Road and Glenwood Drive.

“His first question, ‘Do you know where this child belongs?’. And I was like, ‘No, I've never seen the child before,’” said Reynoso.

Reynoso says she immediately reached out for help.

"I called 911 just as he was leaving to report that I had this child, that turned out to be 3-years old and we didn't know where the child belonged or where the child came from,” said Reynoso.

Reynoso told police officers that she would sit with the toddler for as long as needed. She spent the time asking the 3-year-old questions he couldn't answer about his parents.

Eventually, the child was able to identify the car and the color of his mom's van, which ultimately led police to locate the child's babysitter.

Raynoso says around two hours later, she watched the happy ending.
 
"I was the one who handed the child to his mom and of course she was really glad too. Very, very, very glad to hold him,” said Reynoso.

Reynoso says the whole situation left her in shock.

"Obviously it catches you off guard. You don't expect to find a 3-year-old roaming at 4:00am in the morning,” said Reynoso.

The Cleveland Police Department says the child escaped his home through an unlocked door while in the care of a babysitter.

There were no charges filed in the case.
