Tenneesee lawmakers and leaders mourn loss of Charlie Kirk

From Local 3 News: Reaction across the United States continues to pour out following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday, including the Volunteer State.

Govenor Bill Lee urged everyone to pray for Kirk's family following the shooting, he took to X saying in part:
 
"@MariaLeeTN & I ask Tennesseans to join us in lifting up Charlie’s wife Erika, two children & entire family to the Lord, and to be in prayer for our Nation that is in desperate need of God’s healing."

Senator Marsha Blackburn shared a personal photo with Kirk on X:

"Charlie Kirk touched the lives of countless people across America, and the movement he started changed our country for the better. I am devastated by his passing, and words fail to describe how much of a loss this is for our nation. We mourn with his family, and we pray for justice to be served."

Those on the other side of the political aisle are also condemning the violence. The chair of the Tennessee Democratic Party, Rachel Campbell released this statement:

"Today another act of senseless violence occurred in Utah. Violence has no place in a civil society and we condemn this act of terrorism in the strongest possible terms."

While many questions remain as investigators work to piece together how and why this assassination happened, some are feeling solace that Kirk was firm and steadfast in his faith.
 
"I can't imagine that Charlie would've wanted to lose his life in any other way than doing what he loved most on a college campus, sharing the truth, and speaking about his beliefs with others," Gail Greene, the Chairwoman with Hamilton County GOP.
