From Local 3 News: UPDATE: East Ridge Police Chief Clint Uselton says a truck driver is behind bars after failing to slow down, causing the fatal crash on Interstate 75 Sunday.
"This could've happened on any section of any interstate. It's simply that time, at that location, there was a slowdown. Indications from what we've are that truck did not slow down," said Uselton.
Police say two adults were killed; three people are in the ICU, and two have been treated and released for minor injuries. Two children are critically injured.
"They will be grieving for a long time, because people were not operating their vehicle the way they should have been," said Uselton.
The truck driver, Joseph Antoinier, faces the following charges:
Chief Uselton says there were people who tried helping the people involved.
"There were people who had gotten out of their vehicles that had gotten fire extinguishers they'd had access to. They were attempting to put the fire out. There were people standing on top of one of the burning vehicles trying to remove one of the victims," said Uselton.
Investigators at the scene say some of these people received minor burn injuries.

- Two counts of reckless homicide
- Seven counts of felony reckless endangerment
- Three counts of reckless aggravated assault
