Experts from AA have also provided the region with winter weather safe driving tips.
(From our partners at Local 3 News)

Drivers should-
1. Check a reliable weather app and adjust routes or travel plans accordingly.
2. Clear all snow and ice from the vehicle before driving.
3. Ensure windshield wipers and defrosters are working properly and check that there is ample windshield washer fluid and fuel.
4. Make sure your vehicle has a healthy car battery.
5. While driving, motorists should increase their following distance and reduce their speed to help prevent collisions.
6. Drivers should remain alert for icy patches on bridges, overpasses, and intersections.
7. Avoid braking directly on ice, and rather break on approach to icy patches.
8. If a vehicle becomes stuck on ice, straighten the wheel and accelerate slowly.
9. If stuck, try adding sand, kitty litter or some other type of abrasive material under your dry wheels to avoid spinning your tires.
10. For those who experience sliding or skidding, look and steer in the direction you want the vehicle to go.
