UPDATE: Car that veered over side of East Brow Road still unrecovered
From Local 3 News: UPDATE: Recovery efforts for the car that veered off the side of Signal Mountain on Wednesday, January 1 were unsuccessful, according to Waldens Ridge Emergency Service.
A resident in the area told photojournalist Adam Dalessandri that when authorities tried to tow the car back up the hill, the cable snapped and the car fell further down the mountain.
Site where car veered off Signal Mtn. bluff, E. Brow Rd.
Authorities told Local 3 that the car has come to a rest on a shelf on the bluff off of East Brow Road. They say they are unsure of how far down it fell, but it is an estimated 50 to 80 feet below the roadway.
"There is no immediate danger to the public at this time as the area immediately below the vehicle is remote wilderness," says Waldens Ridge Emergency Service.
Waldens Ridge says that the car was empty when it rolled over the bluff. They say that at this time, they are unsure of the events that led up to the incident.
The owner is working with resources to find a way to recover the car in the near future.
PREVIOUS STORY: A car veered over the side of East Brow Road Wednesday evening.
Walden Ridge Emergency Service crews say there were no injuries from the wreck.
The crew continues to work to stabilize the car.
