Lee University's Salyer and Tucker promoted to VP

Dr. Paul Conn, president of Lee University, recently announced the promotion of Dr. Jeff Salyer to Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing and Nate Tucker to Vice President for Information Technology (IT) by the Lee University Board of Directors.

“Salyer and Tucker are both outstanding professionals,” said Conn. “Each began working at Lee immediately after graduating from here and have developed reputations for having a terrific work ethic and a grasp of their respective jobs. I’m pleased that the Board of Directors has approved their promotions; they both have earned it.”

Jeff Salyer

In his new role, Salyer will oversee all forms of marketing, including strategic communications, graphic design, photography, video production, and social media. He will also provide leadership to undergraduate, online, and graduate admissions, along with overseeing financial aid, institutional research, and enrollment partnerships.

“I’m thrilled at the opportunity to lead the high-energy, hardworking team of enrollment and marketing professionals we have at Lee University,” said Salyer. “Dr. Conn often says, ‘the job of a college president is to put students in front of professors who will change their lives.’ Well, our job is to recruit students to Lee, so they have the opportunity to be in those transformational classrooms. That makes this kind of work missional and exciting.”

Salyer has served at Lee for over 26 years, including his time as a student worker. He joined the full-time ranks as a video production coordinator in 1999 while completing his undergraduate degree. Upon graduation from Lee, he remained on staff, serving as the assistant director of video production, director of media services, and most recently as the director of marketing until his promotion.

Salyer earned both his Doctor of Philosophy in communications and his Master of Arts in film and TV studies from Regent University. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in telecommunications from Lee. He resides in Cleveland with his wife April and their two children, Abigail and Brantley.

Nate Tucker

Tucker, also a Lee alum, first joined Lee’s staff as an IT report writer and later worked as an application developer of computer systems for the university. He became Lee’s director of information technology in 2011 and has since overseen the management of Lee’s technological systems, including computer software, internet, and safeguarding data.

As vice president for IT, Tucker will continue to lead the IT team, propose new technological initiatives, and advance Lee’s mission through strategic technology solutions.

“It’s a great honor to be able to serve my alma mater at this level,” said Tucker. “Information Technology is constantly evolving, and we will continue to focus on embracing those developments.”

Tucker earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and his Bachelor of Science in computer information systems and business administration from Lee. In addition to his volunteer work with local organizations such as Junior Achievement and United Way of the Ocoee Region, Tucker has served for five years on the Cleveland City Board of Education. He is married to Stacey Tucker and has two daughters, Layla and Lilly.
