Construction for new Lookouts Stadium moving along
From Local 3 News: Construction for the new Chattanooga stadium is underway, and progress is moving at a steady pace.
Excavation for the new Lookouts Stadium started about four weeks ago and is wrapping up. Now, you can see exactly where the new stadium will lay.
UPDATE: Construction begins for new Lookouts Stadium in South Broad District
A grand opening is expected to be held in 2026.
Andrew Stone, a partner with Perimeter Properties, explains what is happening next:
“The next part of this right now is utility work. So, water, sewer, gas, all of those installations go first, and then deep foundation systems for the system itself. If you drive by the site or go to southbroad.info, you will be able to see deep foundation rings coming in,” Stone said.
Stone said you will be able to see the big picture soon.
“Visual impact for folks will probably be in Q1 for next year, the first quarter of next year. People will start to see steel go in. Foundation first, and then steel, and then you will see the structure come out of the ground,” Stone said.
At Thursday’s meeting, Chattanooga’s Sports Authority Broad was informed that the bond issue and financing for the stadium was finalized in October.
“Under state law, you have to file a report with the state explaining all the expenses and the interest rates, and the bond issue, and you have to present it to the sports authority and that is what we did today. It’s sort of the conclusion of the financing for the stadium,” Mark Mamantov said.
Mark Mamantov is an outside attorney who assisted with the bond. He said the budget that was promised remained in place.
“What the County Commission and the City Council was presented was to not to exceed a $115 million budget for everything. The city is doing a little bit of infrastructure separately which needed to be done anyway. The $115, totally for the stadium, has not changed, and we feel very confident to stay in the budget. As a reminder, the team has guaranteed that if it goes over the $115 million that they will cover any expenses,” Mamantov said.
The stadium is still expected to be complete by April 2026.
