One child was killed in an accident at The Haunted Hilltop; GoFundMe created

UPDATE: The student that was killed in the Haunted Hilltop tragedy has been confirmed to be a student at the Chattanooga School for Liberal Arts.

The school has created a GoFundMe to honor the student, as well as support his family during this time.

PREVIOUS STORY: The Hamilton County Sheriff's Department and the Highway 58 Fire Department responded to a call at the Haunted Hilltop that a child had been struck by a tractor.

Around 10:45pm on Friday, October 11, deputies learned through a chaperone that the child hid in the bushes as a hayride passed. His intention was to scare the hay riders.

When he jumped to get on the trailer, it's possible that he slipped and fell underneath the wheels. The child was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Haunted Hilltop and HCSO have both expressed their thoughts and sympathies to the family of the child.

"The HCSO family extends our thoughts and sympathy to the family of the deceased juvenile, as well as the others who witnessed the tragic event.  We ask the community also keep this family in their prayers during this difficult time," said the press release.

As the incident involved children, no further information is available at this time.
