Cleveland State to host free TEAS prep class
From Cleveland State Community College: Cleveland State Community College nursing and adult education programs have partnered to provide a free class to prepare potential nursing students for the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) exam which is required for admission to the nursing program.
The class will be offered Monday, Sept. 9 – Thursday, Sept. 12, 5:30-8:30 p.m. on the Cleveland State main campus in Cleveland.
The TEAS is a standardized exam used to assess an applicant’s readiness for the nursing program. The exam covers four main content areas: reading, math, science and English and language usage.
“We are excited to partner with Adult Education to offer a TEAS Prep Course designed to support and empower aspiring nursing students,” said Sandra Godsey, Dean of Business and Healthcare. “This collaboration brings together expertise and resources to ensure students are fully prepared for success on their path to a rewarding healthcare career.”
The TEAS exam is just one requirement of the nursing application. The deadline to apply for the spring 2025 nursing program is Oct. 1.
The associate of applied science degree in nursing prepares students for employment as a professional registered nurse (RN) in public, private and governmental healthcare sectors. The two-year program offers classes during the day or night. Over 40 students started the new day sequence this fall, and an estimated 25 students will begin the evening sequence in January 2025.
