Bradley County Board of Education Meeting 09-09-25

Sep 9, 2025

The Bradley County Board of Education met last night.

The Board moved through a full agenda at its meeting, approving extended teacher contracts, green-lighting campus and facilities projects, aligning multiple policies with new state laws, and electing board officers for the 2025–26 year.

2nd District Board member Vicki Beaty was unanimously reelected chairman.

3rd District Board member, Ted Bryson was elected vice chair after 4th District member, Josh Taylor formally withdrew from the race. The vote was 6-1 in favor of Bryson.

1ST District member Nancy Cason was selected unanimously as the Tennessee Legislative Network Representative.

The board unanimously approved 25 extended contracts for 2025–26—unchanged from last year—so principals can assign teachers to enrichment and other extended-day duties.

Bradley Central High School received permission to begin a safety and beautification project focused on campus entryways. The work will start over fall break, will not require district funding, and will involve a certified contractor and student input from engineering and landscape classes.

On facilities, the board accepted the low bid from Integrated Builds of Chattanooga for the Parkview Elementary expansion at $3.2 million, which includes a 10% contingency and comes in under the construction budget of $3.5 million. The board also awarded the North Lee Elementary paving project to Wright Brothers Construction.

6th District Board member Amanda Lee proposed several board policy changes to comply with new state laws. All changes were adopted by the board.

The first removed fax submissions from public records requests and it designates the district’s  “human resources director” as the records contact.

The second requires parent/guardian notification within 48 hours after incident reports to law enforcement and mandates quarterly incident reports.

Another policy that was amended will require K–8 report-card notations for the most recent universal reading screener and, when available, dyslexia screener results.

The next regular board meeting is Thursday, October 16, at 5 p.m. at the Bradley County Administrative Office Building.
