Cleveland City Council 02-09-26 Regular Session
The council approved a resolution supporting a $25 million federal BUILD grant to help fund the Third Street Connector project. That project is estimated to cost more than $93 million, with federal and state funds expected to cover most of the cost. If awarded, construction could begin within a few years.
Other Transportation updates included:
Peerless Road will be repaved from Paul Huff Parkway to Georgetown Road once right-of-way acquisition is completed. It’s an 80% federally funded project.
Mouse Creek Road will be widened, then paved from the soccer complex to Keith Street.
The 25th and Ocoee intersection project is moving through the right-of-way phase.
The city plans to use $150,000 in federal grant money to install up to 10 new bus shelters. Officials are still finalizing stop locations and may explore advertising partnerships to cover maintenance costs.
Several park updates were also announced:
Jim Sharp Park is nearly finished, with a grand opening expected in May.
Tinsley Park is also expected to open May 1.
The city is considering installing turf at two soccer fields to reduce maintenance and accommodate growing demand.
Officials are also looking to expand parking at the soccer complex.
The council recognized Cleveland Middle School’s wrestling teams with a proclamation declaring February 9th as Cleveland Middle School Blue Raider Wrestling Day.
