Pikeville woman arrested with drugs and stolen gun in Collegedale traffic stop

From News Channel 9: A Pikeville woman was arrested Saturday in Collegedale after police found drugs and a stolen weapon in her car.

 

Collegedale Police say 23-year-old Laura Kate Peterson was pulled over for driving carelessly through a construction zone on Apison Pike.

 

After removing Peterson from the car, an officer said he smelled marijuana.

 

Peterson confirmed to the officer that there was marijuana in the car.

 

Officers say they took marijuana, heroin, 1.5 pounds of methamphetamines, drug paraphernalia, and two guns from her car.

 

Police say one of the guns was confirmed stolen from Knox County.

 

“Our officers work hard every day to keep this community safe from the dangers of drugs and stolen guns,” said Chief Jack Sapp. “This is another example of how Collegedale officers not only continue to set the standard for excellence in policing but also our ongoing dedication to keep Collegedale one of the safest cities in the great State of Tennessee.”

Peterson was charged with felony possession of methamphetamines with intent to distribute, possession of heroin, felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of the stolen gun, and driving while in possession of methamphetamines.
