From Local 3 News: UPDATE: Two employees at the Amaero plant in Cleveland, Tennessee, were taken to the hospital on Wednesday following a lithium battery explosion.
The Chattanooga Fire Department said one of those workers was taken to Erlanger Hospital by ambulance.
Chattanooga Firefighters responded to the hospital for a hazmat response, with the initial belief that the patient came into contact with titanium dust.
However, after setting up for decontamination, firefighters learned the person had instead received severe burns from a lithium battery explosion at the Amaero Advanced Materials & Manufacturing plant. The fire department says there was no hazardous material on the injured worker, and they turned them over to Erlanger care.
The fire department believes the second injured worker was taken to Atlanta for medical treatment.
The explosion happened at around 11:00am on Wednesday, with Chattanooga firefighters responding to Erlanger Baroness Hospital just before noon.
